Well, what a week… It all began last Monday. I was riding in to work at 2pm when I passed a motorcycle policeman who decided to pull me over. He decided my bike was not fit to ride, the rear wheel was to worn and my chain was too loose. The long and short of it, I had to call the AA to come and pick my bike up and take it back to Finchley. The garage said they could look at in next Monday. I got the tube back in to work, 3 hours late…
The next morning I was to pick up Nurcan and her sister from Gatwick. Their plane was due to land at 6:10 so I’d said I would be at work by 9am. Unfortunately, another plane was parked in their plane’s way?!?! This delayed everything, which meant all kinds of traffic had time to build up on the M25 and I was an hour late for work again.
Then some good news. I got a call on Thursday that my bike was ready. I collected it and rode to work on Friday. When I came out to it on Saturday the rear tyre was flat! The workshop wouldn’t be open until Monday morning, so that was out of action for the weekend.
Sunday required me to travel with Robert to Birmingham for a game against the Bulls. No problem, all’s okay with the car atleast… or so we thought…
Two miles from the stadium, as we were just leaving the M6, we got a flat tyre. No major problem, out comes the jack, we’ll have this sorted in no time. Maybe not…
The crank used to loosen the nuts wasn’t quite up to the job, and split! So, on to the phone to the AA for the second time in a week. Still, at least we just need him to change the tyre and we’ll be on our way. Erm, no that would be far too simple. It would appear something is wrong, the tyre was worn through on the inside. The other side front tyre looks the same and could go at any monent. Luckily the AA man arranges for a mobile tyre van to come to the stadium and change the tyres for us there.
So, the nice man changed two tyres, the AA paid the expensive Sunday call out fee and we beat the Bulls comfortably 44-0. Things are on the up! Right, lets head to Lutterworth for a nice meal with the parents before heading home to watch the Wimbledon final. Erm, well…
Only a couple of miles along the M6 and we pass a sign ‘Accident – 10 minute delay’. No problem, I can live with a 10 minute hold up. Second later we came to a stand still. TomTom traffic reported nothing. For the whole 60 minutes we waited stationary… still TomTom traffic reported nothing. Money well spent there then!
Eventually some police cars, ambulance and recovery vehicles went by and we gradually began moving again. The 40 minute journey took 2 hours, but we made it.
This morning I’ve already got my bike tyre sorted. A metal shaving found its way into the inner tube. Tomorrow I have the car booked in to have it’s tracking checked. Might as well have the air con serviced while it’s there!
I wonder if I should sell them both and just use public transport! Nah…
