I just got back from another great trip on my bike with friends Lee Baker, Marie and Steve Page, Andy Chamberlain and Mike Simpson. Steve planned the route, we were to spend most of Saturday making our way to the hotel, riding through a fair bit of South Wales. The weather was amazing as we rode up, stopping every hour or so to stretch our legs or have a coffee or meal. The scenery matched the weather with some amazing views and some fantastic roads for us to enjoy.
We made it safely to the hotel by around 5pm. The hotel was great, except for perhaps the bathroom that included a toilet I couldn’t use, it was just far too tight a space! In fact I burnt myself on the towel rail trying! We had a fantastic meal and finished the night off with a few drinks.
After breakfast the next day we set off on our way around 9:30am. After a very short ride to the sea, we stopped for coffee again before looping north and down through Bala making our way home, stopping off regularly as can be seen on our Trip Journal. (Download this zip file, use the kmz file within with Google Earth)
My total trip was 554 miles in the two days, which means, even with the down time we averaged 27 miles an hour (not including the time at the hotel). As well as the journal, all the trip photo’s can be seen here.
